Welcome to Philip W. Sugg Middle School

This 2019-20 year is full of promise and potential.  We will strive to create exciting, change-oriented experiences that meet and exceed the high standards set by our exemplary Lisbon/Lisbon Falls schools.

Middle school is by nature a transitional time, and we will be offering a wide range of learning opportunities and activities to support our district’s vision: “All students learn in different ways and in different time frames.”

We are continuing our work in Restorative Practices, a programmatic approach based on a social justice model to improve and enhance our positive school culture. As defined: “A restorative school is one which takes a restorative approach at resolving conflict and preventing harm. Restorative Practice is a mainstay in helping to promote and sustain a climate of empathy, responsibility, and respect.

We have structured our day to emphasize Target Time, a 45-minute academic intervention block that helps students meet individual learning goals and demonstrate proficiency. We have also added a new 15-minute block to the day called W.I.N. time.  This is a math and literacy-focused time that is devoted to, as the name implies, What I Need. Our staff has been training with a variety of technological platforms, Edgenuity's UpSmart program, Google Classroom, and Prodigy Math, to name a few, in order to help students learn and achieve at their highest potential.

We are committed to using Google Classroom, a blended learning platform that enables students to access class materials, lessons and turn in assignments on their computer at home or away.
