Welcome to Philip W. Sugg Middle School

Welcome back to the start of a new school year at Philip W. Sugg Middle School.  This 2018-19 year is full of promise and potential.  We will strive to create exciting, change-oriented experiences that meet and exceed the high standards set by of our exemplary Lisbon/Lisbon Falls schools.

Middle school is by nature a transitional time, and we will be offering a wide range of learning opportunities and activities to support our district’s vision: “All students learn in different ways and in different time frames.”

We are entering our fifth year of Restorative Practices, a programmatic approach based on a social justice model to improve and enhance a positive school culture. As defined: “A restorative school is one which takes a restorative approach at resolving conflict and preventing harm. Restorative Practice is a mainstay in helping to promote and sustain a climate of respect.

We have structured our day to emphasize Target Time, a 50-minute academic intervention block that helps students meet individual learning goals. Our staff has been training with a variety of technological platforms, such as Khan Academy, to help students learn most effectively.

We are committed to using Google Classroom, a blended learning platform that enables students to access class materials on their computer at home or away. This is also an important way to reinforce basic skills prior to class.
